As we are currently experiencing growing concern over the corona virus and it now being considered a pandemic, measures are being taken to prevent the spread. One measure is confinement. Through out history those seeking spiritual guidance would retreat to solitary places of prayer. Some would become hermits but often monastic communities would eventually develop. The hermit's holy wisdom would guide and encourage others.
Over the years I have been blessed by my days and seasons of solitude and silence. These times have provided refreshing for my soul. Out of these holy spaces I have been given gifts for others, whether meeting one on one offering spiritual direction or providing contemplative retreats and workshops. My prayer for you in this season is first of all for your health and wellbeing, body, soul and spirit, but also for you to discover the beauty of deep connection with the Divine in spaces of solitude and silence, whether self imposed or otherwise.
